"Dendo" is the Japanese word for "missionary work." DENDO: One Year and One Half in Tokyo is the daily journal of an LDS sister missionary in Tokyo, Japan—kept entirely in comic pages.

"...delightfully self-deprecating and rich with insightful wit. DENDO provides unique and often poignant insights into what missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints do during those formative years of service--and more importantly why they do it. In her best moments, I was re-living my mission along with Long Shimai; and it was the best two years all over again."

“Brittany Long Olsen’s DENDO: One Year and One Half in Tokyo is a remarkable debut work. Olsen has taken the Mormon missionary memoir genre to exciting new heights. Her engaging visual style, self-deprecating honesty, and keen observations about missionary life make DENDO not only an important and innovative missionary memoir, but also a groundbreaking contribution to Mormon comics.”
